In Preparation of a Potential Shutdown

By Dan Doenges | In Gym | on November 12, 2020

Hi Everyone,

We would be remiss if we did not prepare for the potential of another shutdown in the state’s attempt to suppress the virus.  Though we are not stating there will be one; we would just like to prepare everyone in the event of another mandated closure by the state. The news about a vaccine from Pfizer is fantastic. But this, along with rising cases, may help justify officials taking short term drastic measures to help get to that finish line of distribution.

Here is what we plan to do this time given a shutdown scenario.

1)      We will send out an email announcing our shutdown day and time.  We will also post this information on Facebook and on our website to reach as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, with all the information.

2)      We will offer a $0 hold to anyone who would like to freeze their membership during the shutdown for any full month. If you would like to participate in a zero dollar hold, respond to the shutdown email with the message FREEZE. The zero hold will continue each full month for the duration of the shutdown.

3)      As a default, we will continue to draft the dues from members who can continue to stay active; as we are still an operating business with bills and obligations even when our doors are shut.

This approach gives those who are also financially affected by the shutdown a chance to preserve their membership at no cost. It also gives us a fighting chance to financially weather the storm like last time.

The Good News

The good news is that a lot has changed this time around.  We know this will not be permanent or extended longer than necessary, and we know with a vaccine it is not futile.  We don’t believe this is the new normal but having one or two months off this season may occur.

Lastly we know this whole event is emotionally difficult on everyone and a shutdown only exacerbates that. With that said, Leslie and I are generally the only ones working during a shutdown with three small children at home. We ask that you please understand the challenges with that and we appreciate in advance your patience and understanding.  Ideally, if we can all communicate through email, we can retain a record of our correspondence with you. This way we can refer back to our conversations and can serve you all with the most detail. All of our contact information will be available through our website and social media platforms.

We are going to try and build up an inventory of live-stream class recordings. Then we will look into airing them while we are closed during their scheduled times. We will also continue to explore other remote options to help you all maximize your fitness at home until we can reopen.

Just like the last shutdown and restart, we will do everything we can to come back strong and able to serve everyone with 100% effort from us and all of our amazing staff!  Hopefully it will not come to this but if it does we will get through it together again.

Also check out our blog for the newest installation of iWave air purification technology as we fight to keep our VS&F spaces as safe as possible.
