Our Junior Tennis Academy is revving up for 2018; the Academy originally launched in 2017, and we are so excited to start the next round! The kids had a great experience with tennis, so naturally, we want to keep it going—if your child is between the ages of 3 and 17, we have options for you. The Junior Tennis Academy registration form has 16 different days and times in order to best accommodate as many people as possible. We hope to fill all the groups but spots are limited, so make sure to sign up to guarantee your spot.
Tennis allows kids to run around and always be in motion. When you play tennis, you are the quarterback and receiver, the goal scorer and defender; you are always in the play. The best part is that you get to be yourself on the court! Your tennis style is much like your personality, so once you know how you like to play, there will be a winning style that’s personal to you. Your child not only gets to learn how to be on a team, but also how to play on their own. In this way, they learn to overcome challenges, better preparing them for life’s challenges down the road.
Tennis is a special sport in Vermont because it can be played year-round. With three indoor hard tennis courts and four outdoor clay courts here at Vermont Sport & Fitness, we have 365 days a year of tennis opportunities. Once the kids learn the sport, they can play matches throughout the state as well as throughout New England, any time of the year; you are not bound to the school seasons!
You can progress to be one of the best players in the state, especially if you start young. In tennis there are no limits because every personality, body type, and style can find a way to have fun and compete at very high levels. We have seen kids who might not fit the mold for a top athlete start young and become the best player in the state, or in some cases, New England.
Hi! This is Dan Doenges, I am the owner and a Tennis Professional at Vermont Sport & Fitness. I officially started tennis at age 12 and fell in love with the sport. My only regret is that I did not start younger. I have now been teaching for 15 years and, having played every sport in the book, I honestly cannot think of a more active and fun sport to play. Practicing feels like playing, and playing feels great. Rutland, Vermont has a long history with tennis and we want to keep that growing long into the future. We would love for you and your family to be a part of that.
